HBO and Sky are collaborating again on a new series, one based on the Adnan Syed case. The four-episode documentary will be called The Case Against Adnan Syed.

HBO & SKY PARTNER UP FOR A NEW ADNAN SYED DOCUMENTARY

Syed’s case is a well-known one, having inspired the Serial podcast. The Case Against Adnan Syed, however, has been in the works since 2015. It’s a four-episode documentary HBO claims will thoroughly revisit the 1999 incident, encompassing “the events leading up to Hae Min Lee’s disappearance, from high school romance, forbidden love and cultural conflict, to the aftermath of her disappearance, the original police investigation and the present day, when Syed awaits a new trial.”

Additionally, the series will also give more focus to Syed, his family and his defense team, also showcasing exclusive interviews with police officials and many who were close to Lee. Sky believes this program will provide “ground-breaking revelations that challenge the state’s case.”

Amy Berg, known for her work on Deliver Us from Evil, will direct The Case Against Adnan Syed. Warren Ellis and Nick Cave will provide the program with music, although no air date has currently been confirmed. Syed, however, is currently waiting for a retrial, although prosecutors are trying to fight the ruling that will grant him one.
