Harvey Weinstein’s Wife, Georgina Chapman, Leaving The Producer Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations

Harvey Weinstein‘s wife, fashion mogul Georgina Chapman, is leaving the producer following the exposés detailing decades of rape and sexual harassment allegations.

Chapman, 41, and fellow designer Keren Craig own fashion brand Marchesa, which makes many red carpet gowns for celebrities. Last week, Chapman remarked that she was going to stand by her husband, whom she married in 2007. Fans responded by boycotting her brand. On Tuesday, Chapman announced that she was leaving Weinstein, 65, in what some consider a last ditch effort to save her brand.

“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband,” Chapman said in a statement. “Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”

Marchesa has not responded for comments. Weinstein, on the other hand, says he agrees with his wife’s choice. “I support her decision, I am in counseling and perhaps, when I am better, we can rebuild. Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for,” he said. “I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and we discussed what was best for our family. We discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart. I understand, I love her and I love our children and hopefully, when I am better, I will be in their lives again.”

Chapman and Craig met at the Chelsea College of Art & Design in London, and have been great friends ever since. They decided to start their own fashion design company together in 2004 after encouragement from the late fashion magazine editor Isabella Blow. Chapman and Weinstein met about a year later. Weinstein and Chapman share two small children, aged 7 and 4.

During their marriage, the pair was a power couple, with Marchesa constantly dressing stars of Weinstein Company and Miramax films.
