Actor Jim Tavare, who appeared in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as the owner of the Leaky Cauldron, was in a severe car crash and is currently fighting for his life.
Tavare is currently in intensive care after being in a head-on car collision that left him with a broken neck and punctured lung. He also suffered 15 broken ribs, a broken leg, and a fractured breastbone, according to a post his wife made on his Facebook account. The post did not detail where the crash took place, though the actor spends most of his time in Los Angeles.
“This is Laura here. Now that his family have been informed, Jim has asked me to let you all know that he was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, a head-on collision,” his wife wrote.
“He’s had two blood transfusions so far and is about to go in for his first surgery. This is for real, not a movie role. Please hold some good thoughts for him as he fights his way out of this,” she continued.
A bevy of entertainers sent their best wishes to Tavare after hearing the somber news.
A picture of the 54-year-old English-born actor and comedian lying in a hospital bed giving the thumbs up sign was also posted to his Facebook account.
