Harrison Ford & Brad Pitt Clashed On Set Of ‘The Devil’s Own’

Brad Pitt59and Harrison Ford80, clashed while working together on The Devil’s Own.

In a new interview with Esquire, Ford said filming the movie in 1997 was “complicated” with the Meet Joe Black actor.

The Devil’s Own is about a man, Rory Devaney, who stays with policeman Tom O’Meara and his family in New York City. While living with them, O’Meara’s house is broken into by intruders. O’Meara soon realizes that Devaney is part of the Irish Republican Army and that Devaney is in the States to transport illegal guns to Dublin.

Pitt, who played Rory Devaney, wrote the script for the 1997 film, and Ford was offered the part of Tom O’Meara. Ford made it clear that he doesn’t dislike Pitt, but that there were just some things they couldn’t agree on with the film.

“I saved my comments about the character and the construction of the thing—I admired Brad. First of all, I admire Brad. I think he’s a wonderful actor. He’s a really decent guy,” the Indiana Jones star said.

“But we couldn’t agree on a director until we came to Alan Pakula, who I had worked with before but Brad had not,” he continued. “Brad had this complicated character, and I wanted a complication on my side so that it wasn’t just a good-and-evil battle. And that’s when I came up with the bad-shooting thing.”

Ford had previously worked with Pakula in Presumed Innocent and with Pitt writing the film’s script, Ford’s suggestions for changes in it weren’t always welcome.

“I worked with a writer—but then all the sudden we’re shooting and we didn’t have a script that Brad and I agreed on. Each of us had different ideas about it,” he explained.

“I understand why he wanted to stay with his point of view, and I wanted to stay with my point of view—or I was imposing my point of view, and it’s fair to say that that’s what Brad felt. It was complicated. I like the movie very much. Very much,” Ford added.

Despite the disagreement between the two actors, The Devil’s Own was a hit and made $140.8 million.

In other news, Pitt recently sued his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, for secretly selling her share of their family wine business.

Ford, on the other hand, said his final goodbyes to Indiana Jones at the Cannes Film Festival as they screened the final installment of Indiana Jones, which will be showing in theaters on June 30.
