Harrison Ford, 78, Hurt On Set Of ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Harrison Ford, 78, hurt his shoulder while rehearsing a fight scene on the set of Indiana Jones 5. It is uncertain how serious the injury is and how long it will take Ford to recover. Director James Mangold will adjust the filming schedule to allow the actor the time necessary to fully heal.

Disney said in a statement, “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”

This is not the first time Ford has suffered an injury on set. While filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens in June 2014, a hydraulic door broke his leg on the Millenium Falcon at London’s Pinewood Studios.

The new Indiana Jones film is also being filmed at Pinewood in addition to some other U.K. locations. Production started in early June and the movie is set to be released on July 29, 2022. Though Steven Speilberg is not directing the latest film in the franchise, he is staying on as a producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel. John Williams, who orchestrated the original movie soundtrack, will return as well.

In addition to Ford’s reprisal of his iconic role as the archeologist, professor and adventurer, the film will feature Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Thomas Kretschmann.
