After three years, Hannibal comes to a close with the season three finale.
The season three finale of Hannibal will likely be the last show, as NBC has decided not to invest in a fourth season. The show came to a close last Saturday, leaving viewers with a bittersweet ending as Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) went flying off a cliff near one of Lecter’s hideouts – plummeting into uncertainty.
Lecter and Graham had been on the run from Dolarhyde, also known as The Tooth Fairy serial killer. The three were locked in a tense battle on the clifftop, and although Lecter and Graham managed to defeat him, they were both mortally wounded in the process. “This is all I ever wanted for you,” Lecter said to Graham after they slayed Dolarhyde together. Graham, who is now conflicted as he has himself become what he always thought was evil, falls into Lecter’s arms, defeated. “It’s beautiful,” Graham says, and then launches them off the cliff together.
Hannibal was not the most popular show on NBC, but they ended the series with a bang that will hopefully satisfy its few, loyal viewers.
