Halsey’s Releases ‘You Should Be Sad,’ Announces Concert Dates [Ticket Info]

Halsey‘s new song “You Should Be Sad” is being called by some as a petty sequel to Carrie Underwood‘s “Before He Cheats.” The pop stars nod to country shows her in a cowboy hat, boots and not really anything else in her video for the new song.

Lyrically, she holds absolutely nothing back.

“I’m so glad I never had a baby with you/ ‘Cause You can’t love nothing unless there’s something in it for you,” she sings in the chorus.

On Twitter, she had some shout outs for her idols, including Underwood and Shania Twain.

“The most petty and heartbreaking songs all come from country”, Halsey tweeted. “I wrote [‘You Should Be Sad’] on my living room floor on my guitar. Lots of time in Nashville too.”

Many have specualted who the song is about and general consensus points to her ex, rapper G–Eazy, whose relationship with Halsey ended after he was caught cheating.

Twain and Christina Aguilera both commented on her new hit with Twain saying, “Oh yes! Love it! Flattered to be on of your badass idols, Halsey.”

“You nailed it, babe! Love it! #YouShouldBeSad,” said Aguilera.

Halsey, who is now dating actor Evan Peters, clearly had some choice words to say about someone, but whoever it was, this song is bound to resonate with many and end up on every post-breakup playlist.
