Grammy Award winner H.E.R. took the country’s largest stage Sunday night to open the Super Bowl championship game. She delivered an electric rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

She rocked a bedazzled jacket while singing with her guitar. The singer was accompanied with deaf rapper Warren “WAWA” Snipe to deliver the patriotic song in American Sign Language to those hard of hearing.

“Honestly, I am so excited to just be performing at the Super Bowl,” said H.E.R. in a recent interview. “It’s a huge stage and it doesn’t get any bigger, you know? But I think the goal, for me, is to make [the song] my own. I’m a huge fan of the different versions of ‘America the Beautiful’ but I really want to bring some different elements in there… make it H.E.R.”

Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan joined H.E.R. in the pre-game line-up singing the national anthem. The Weeknd was the halftime performer.
