Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Goop website recently published a recipe for the actress’s daily morning smoothie – which may or may not cost $200 to make.
The “GP’s Morning Smoothie” recipe, which was posted on Goop earlier this week, got a lot of attention for its long list of unique – and often expensive – ingredients. While the drink includes the expected almond milk, almond butter and coconut oil, it also includes the less familiar vanilla mushroom protein powder, cordyceps powder and Moon Juice dust.
“Gwyneth drinks one of these every morning, whether or not she’s detoxing,” reads the blurb on Goop. “Choose your Moon Juice moon dust depending on what the day ahead holds…brain before a long day at the office, sex dust before a date, etc.”
It wasn’t long before it was pointed out that the list of ingredients required to breakfast like Paltrow would cost $200 by the Daily Mail. The vanilla mushroom protein powder costs $35, the cordeyceps powder costs $35 and the Moon Juice dusts cost anywhere between $55 and $65. The Maca, Ho shou wu and Ashwagandha aren’t cheap buys either.
However, while it might cost around $200 to collect all of the ingredients to begin the morning meal ritual of the Oscar winner, it won’t cost $200 per day. It would cost more like $10.52 per day, according to Vanity Fair. Though still not cheap – especially for a homemade beverage – the price is more in line with the health smoothie and juices one would buy at a local smoothie or juice shop.
