Gwyneth Paltrow walked the red carpet for the I’ll See You in My Dreams screening in Los Angeles Thursday with her mother Blythe Danner, who is the star of the comedy-drama.

While the photographers snapped away at The London Screening Room in West Hollywood, Paltrow and Danner hugged and smiled. The mother-daughter duo were dressed to match in monochrome ensembles on the red carpet. While Paltrow wore a white turtleneck mini, Danner donned a mix-matched patterned, black and white shirt and skirt outfit for the screening.
In I’ll See You in My Dreams, Danner plays windowed former jazz singer Carole Petersen. With the help of her friends Georgina (June Squibb), Sally (Rhea Perlman) and Rona (Mary Kay Place), and daughter Katherine (Malin Akerman) she ends up exploring new love – and her old love of singing.
Though Dannner is a well-known actress with an illustrious career of both the stage and screen, I’ll See You in My Dreams marks the first time that she’s the star of a film.
“I used to be very self-conscious,” she Danner told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview while talking about her career. “I’ve always felt much more comfortable in company situations, and that’s how I began. I always wanted to be a good actress working with great people and doing work I wasn’t ashamed of.”
I’ll See You in My Dreams, for which Danner received raves at Sundance, hits theaters May 15.
