Gwen Stefani‘s animated series Kuu Kuu Harajuku is coming to Nickelodeon in October.
Originally created based on the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo, the Harajuku girls became a staple of Stefani’s solo career in 2004. The animated series, based on these girls, will feature four female lead characters, aptly named Love, Angel, Music and Baby, which calls back to Stefani’s 2004 album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
Kuu Kuu Harajuku first aired last November in Australia. The show follows the four girls creating a musical group with their leader G, but every gig is interrupted before it can begin, either by aliens or politicians or monsters. The show has been described as a “collision of cultures, a kaleidoscope of music, fashion and style.”
Stefani created the show with Gillian Carr, Steve Aranguren and Madellaine Paxson. It will consist of 26 episodes, and will premiere Oct. 4 through Oct. 7 at 4 pm, but will move to its regular time on Saturdays at 8:30 am.
Stefani has been judging on The Voice, however, this will be her first time producing. Stefani also has a clothing line, L.A.M.B., short for Love Angel Music Baby. Stefani is currently on tour for her third solo album, This is What the Truth Feels Like.
