Izzy Stradlin will not be participating in the Guns N’ Roses upcoming reunion shows.
“At this point in time, I will not be playing at any of the April 2016 GNR shows,” Stradlin, the Guns N’ Roses co-founder and guitarist, told Rolling Stone. “I’ve also not been in the studio recording or writing with any of the others recently.”
Stradlin joined Twitter last month. His first tweet stated that he would not be involved in the reunion shows, but since his account is unverified, fans were unsure whether or not it was legitimate. Stradlin has now come forward to say that it really is his account, and to explain why he opened it.
“There’s so much misinformation, so I wanted to clarify that I’m not in the studio recording with any of the Guns N’ Roses guys,” Stradlin told Rolling Stone, adding, “At this point in time, I’m not involved in the actual shows … A lot of stuff [fans] are reading isn’t true.”
Stradlin helped to co-found Los Angeles rock band Guns N’ Roses in 1985. He took his leave of the band in 1991, but returned as a guest performer multiple times between 2006 and 2014.
Guns N’ Roses, after much speculation, have confirmed that they are reuniting for a pair of Las Vegas gigs in April before headlining the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, Calif.
