The Grey’s Anatomy spin-off has finally been officially titled Station 19.
The show was created by Grey’s Anatomy executive producer Stacy McKee. Along with McKee, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Paris Barclay will also be executive producers for the show.
ABC President Channing Dungey admits that the NBC show Chicago Fire was the reason for having difficulties coming up with a title, due to similarities. “That would be the main reason we’re not going to call it Seattle Fire,” she said.
The show will follow a group of firefighters from Seattle Fire Station 19 and share their stories of saving lives while putting their own lives at stake, both on and off duty. It will show the dynamic of the different characters in the station, from the captain to the newest recruit. The show will not only focus on their lives at the station but the characters’ personal lives as well.
Before having a name, Station 19 already had a cast list for the show. The spin-off will star Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andy Herrera, Jason George as Ben Warren, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes, Alberto Frezza as Ryan Tanner, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, Okieriete Onaodowan as Dean Miller, Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop, and Miguel Sandoval as Captain Pruitt Herrera.
Station 19 will have a two-hour premiere at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22. The show will also be a part of ABC’s #TGIT series.
