After Andra Day revealed the nominees for the top four categories for the 2018 Grammys, the Recording Academy went ahead and released the nominees for all 84 categories.
JAY-Z leads the pack with eight nominations, including for album of the year, record of the year, song of the year, and best rap album. Following him are Kendrick Lamar with seven nods and Bruno Mars with six. SZA earned five nominations, making her this year’s most Grammy-nominated woman. Khalid, Childish Gambino, and music producer No I.D. also scored five nods.
The noms this year show an unprecedented spike in rap and R&B music, especially in the Big 4 categories – best new artist, record of the year, song of the year, and album of the year. A few potential snubs were not seeing Ed Sheeran in any top categories, as well as any One Direction alumni, Lady Gaga, and not seeing much country music really anywhere in the nominations.
The Grammys will air live from Madison Square Garden on CBS on Sunday, Jan. 28. The final round of Grammy voting will run from Dec. 7 through Dec. 21.
