Gorillaz have announced a release date, music video, and four new songs from their third studio album.
The album, Humanz, is expected out April 28. Gorillaz is the brain child of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett that mixes music and animated art. Albarn and Hewlett are represented by four virtual characters that make of the band – 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs.
Four new songs are available on Spotify now.
Along with the date, Gorillaz released new visual portraits of the characters, which are designed to look like Twitter avatars. When the band was established in 1998, the idea of virtual pop stars was more far fetched, but it fits in with the culture of 2017.
The video that came out, titled “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House),” is two-dimensional and shows the digital characters investigating a seemingly haunted house. Creepy monsters appear, with each character experiencing the house in different realities.
