GOP Sen. Mitt Romney Says He’d Vote For A Democratic Presidential Candidate Over Trump Or Ramaswamy

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said that he would vote for a Democrat over former President Donald Trump or entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in the 2024 presidential election.

“I’d be happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans, maybe not Vivek, but the others that are running would be acceptable to me and I’d be happy to vote for them,” Romney said to CBS News host Norah O’Donnell in an interview that resurfaced this weekend.

“I’d be happy to vote for a number of the Democrats, too,” he continued. “I mean, it would be an upgrade from, in my opinion, from Donald Trump and perhaps also from Joe Biden.”

Romney did not specify which Democrats he would consider voting for.

“Look, I like President Biden. You know, I find him a very charming, engaging person. There are some places where I agree with him, but in most places, I disagree with him. I think he’s made all sorts of terrible mistakes, but I would like to see someone else run,” Romney stated.

The interview, which aired last month, began circulating among Trump supporters on X, formerly Twitter, this week and even caught the attention of Ramaswamy.

“Not surprising,” the presidential hopeful responded to Romney’s comments.

Romney recently revealed that Oprah Winfrey suggested that they run for president together as a national unity ticket.
