Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-South Carolina) former staffers are publicly complaining about their time working for her, with one calling her “delusional” and another saying she is considered a “joke” in Congress.
Mace’s entire staff has reportedly quit, leaving her scrambling to find new employees.
Her office has undergone 100% turnover since November 1, 2023.
“She says nothing publicly without her consultants or senior staffers telling her to but takes credit for everything. She’s a walking teleprompter,” one former staffer said about Mace to the Daily Beast.
Another said she “has no idea what it actually means to be a member of Congress and is too scared and self-conscious to deal with other people, so she accomplished nothing.”
Former aides have claimed she demanded responses within eight minutes of her orders. One senior staffer recalled Mace calling her team close to midnight on Christmas Eve, upset that she was not getting more time on television during the holiday week.
Mace has had a tumultuous run in Congress since being elected in 2020. She condemned Donald Trump after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and then survived a primary challenge last year backed by the former president. She voted to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and then endorsed Trump last month.
