GOP Rep. Matt Rosendale Says He’s Leaving Congress Amid Personal Rumors & A Cloud Of Mystery

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Montana) announced he is going to leave the Congressional race due to rumors and attacks on himself and his family,

This announcement was posted on the social media platform X, declaring he is backing out of the House election.

Earlier this year, Rosendale announced that he was going to be running for Senate, but soon dropped out after he realized that he was not going to get the backing he wanted, especially from former President Donald Trump.

In February, Trump endorsed Tim Sheehy for the Montana GOP Senate nomination.

In his statement, Rosendale said, “At the onset of this election season, at the urging of many, I announced my candidacy for the U.S. Senate. It became very obvious soon after that announcement that the national support and resources necessary to win that seat were not going to be available to me.”

Rosendale withdrew from the race to not “jeopardize the opportunity for Republicans to secure that seat and, with it, the majority in the U.S. Senate, which is critical for our country.”

Rosendale then decided that he was not going to run for reelection to his current seat in the House, surprising nearly everyone.

“Since that announcement, I have been forced to have law enforcement visit my children because of a death threat against me and false and defamatory rumors against me and my family,” he said.

“This has taken a serious toll on me, and my family. Additionally, it has caused a serious disruption to the election of the next Representative for MT-02.”

Rosendale has not commented on what these allegations are about. However, former Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota) recently insinuated on a podcast that Rosendale had impregnated a 20-year-old staffer. These allegations are unconfirmed, and Rosendale’s team has threatened legal action against her.
