Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) attacked the “communists” who canceled her book-signing event at a Florida resort.
The event marked the third anniversary of the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“The Communist Democrats tried to shut down my book signing. They lost!” she wrote on X. “I’ll be in Orlando, FL, tomorrow night at a new venue to sign copies of my brand new book MTG. See you there!!”
In the video, she urged people to buy her book to “really make them angry,” referring to the Democrats.
She also declared victory “over the cancel culture communist.”
Westgate Resort was originally supposed to host the event but canceled it. Before Greene’s post on X, Westgate confirmed that the event would no longer occur at their resort.
The resort claimed it was “not made aware of the purpose of this event” when the host approached them.
Osceola County GOP Committee Chair Mark Cross, who was in charge of the event, responded to its cancelation by blaming the Democrats. He claimed they probably “started calling people and lying about the purpose of the event.”
“While some in the media have stated the event has been canceled, that is false,” he told The Hill. “The show must go on, and we are looking forward to welcoming Marjorie Taylor Greene to Orlando tomorrow.”
Florida state Rep. Anna Eskamani (D) has criticized Greene and her party for holding an event related to the January 6 riot.
“Just another day in Florida where the local Republican Party in Osceola County is hosting an ‘anniversary’ event to mark January 6, and Marjorie Taylor Green is the ‘special’ guest,” Eskamani posted on X, saying she “really hoped” it was a joke at first.
Greene’s book was in the news when it received just one star from Amazon reviewers.
The controversial representative has been the victim of no less than eight “swatting” incidents in the last year.
