Google Pixel
It’s finally happened: Google has made a smartphone.
At either five or five-and-a-half inches, the Pixel is a curved-edge, glass-aluminum housed smartphone that looks like a 1960s minimalist version of the iPhone. Being Google, of course, there are several unique features under the bright AMOLED display. All it takes is a quick fingerprint scan with Pixel Imprint to see what lies in store.
A key feature of the Pixel is the inclusion of Google Assistant. Like the infamous Siri, Assistant allows you to make reservations, set alarms, and find photos. It also puts the power of the Google search engine in your pocket. Another Google carryover is an enhanced version of Google hangout. Dubbed “Duo,” the video call application is also available for iOS.
Following the trend for better smartphone cameras, the Pixel packs an impressive 12.3-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front facing camera, making it perfect for a wide range of lighting environments. Independent mobile camera tester, DxOMark, gave it a top rating of 89 (the “best-ever”).
Pixel is also the first phone to debut the new Android 7.1 Nougat operating system for mobile devices.
While the Pixel, in summary of a recent endgadget review, seems like just another iteration of the iPhone or other equally powerful phones on the market, the device stands out for bringing the powerful nature of the Google computing experience to the palm of your hand.
