Golden Globes 2025: ‘Emilia Pérez’ Leads Nominations with 10 Nods, ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘Conclave’ Follow Closely

The 2025 Golden Globe Awards nominations were announced Monday, with Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez leading the pack with 10 nominations. The Netflix-acquired musical, which charmed audiences at Cannes, is up for best motion picture – musical or comedy, best director for Audiard, and acting nods for Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez and Karla Sofia Gascón. It also received recognition for screenplay, original score and other categories.

Hot on its heels is Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, an A24 drama about a Hungarian architect’s struggles, which earned seven nominations. The film is up for best motion picture – drama, with stars Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce receiving acting nods. Conclave, Focus Features’ gripping papal election drama, garnered six nominations, including best actor for Ralph Fiennes and best supporting actress for Isabella Rossellini.

Other standout films with multiple nominations include Anora, Challengers, A Real Pain, Universal’s Wicked, and the surprise contender The Substance, which earned four nods, including best musical or comedy and lead actress for Demi Moore.

Several performers achieved multiple nominations this year. Sebastian Stan was recognized in both drama (The Apprentice) and comedy/musical (A Different Man), while Kate Winslet earned nods for her biopic Lee and HBO’s limited series The Regime. Selena Gomez also secured two nominations — for Emilia Pérez and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. Audiard himself is nominated in directing, screenwriting, and original song categories.

On the TV side, FX/Hulu’s The Bear led the field with five nominations, including acting nods for Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri. Only Murders in the Building and Shogun each received four nominations, while Netflix’s Nobody Wants This made an unexpected splash with multiple nods. New series like Baby Reindeer, Disclaimer, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story also received three nominations each.

Netflix’s Squid Game garnered a best series – drama nomination for its second season, raising eyebrows as the new season will not debut until late December.

This year marks the continuation of two new Golden Globe categories. The achievement in stand-up comedy specials includes nominees such as Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler, Ali Wong, and Ramy Youssef. Meanwhile, the global box office prize will see blockbuster hits like Wicked, Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II, and Inside Out 2 competing for the honor.

The 2025 Golden Globes will take place on January 7, 2025.
