Bea Arthur, the actress who went from Broadway to become a sitcom star in Maude and The Golden Girls, died on Saturday morning at 86. Arthur, who had been battling cancer, passed away at her home in Los Angeles. As Maude, the actress played the liberal cousin of Archie Bunker's wife Edith, who took on issues like abortion and civil rights. In Golden Girls, which ran from 1985 to 1992, Arthur played Dorothy Zbornak, who shared a home–and many catty exchanges–with Rue McClanahan and Betty White. (Photo: WENN)
