Ben Affleck, 40, who went on Good Morning America on Monday to talk about the new film he directed and stars in, Argo, also featuring Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Victor Garber and Tate Donovan, also wanted to put his two cents in about the upcoming nuptials between GMA weatherman Sam Champion and his boyfriend of two years, photographer Rubem Robierb.

"I want to congratulate Sam," Affleck said on GMA, before taking the chance to offer hope to other same-sex couples for the future. "It's to our shame that you can't get married in every state in the union, but one day I hope you will be able to. It's very exciting. I was very inspired," Affleck said of the union while Champion and fiance Robierb listened offscreen.

Champion announced his engagement to Robierb last week. "I have met the most wonderful, giving, loving, caring person. I am so, so lucky to have someone like this in my life," he said on the morning talk show.

Host Robin Roberts, who just underwent a bone marrow transplant and is in recovery, tweeted her support for her friend Champion, also. "You know how thrilled I am for you, @SamChampion and Rubem! Hope to be well enough to attend the wedding. Much love to you both."
