‘Glee’ Star Naya Rivera Missing On A Lake In California, Feared ‘Drowning Victim’ By Police

Glee star Naya Rivera went missing on Wednesday at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. Her four year–old son Josey Hollis was found alone and unharmed on a boat the two had rented for the day. 

A search party was sent out for the 33-year-old actress on Wednesday night and was then paused until Thursday morning. The sheriff’s office said that it searched the lake for a “possible drowning victim.” 

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office Eric Buschow explained that Rivera had rented the boat with her son on Wednesday afternoon and later the boat and the boy were found by another boater at 4 pm. Buschow stated that the young Josey Hollis told police that he and his mom went swimming, but his mother never got back on the boat. 

Spokesman Dean Worthy said that the boy was wearing a life vest when he was found. He went on to say that investigators do not believe Rivera was wearing a life vest, since another one was found on the boat. 

A day before Rivera went missing she posted a photo of her kissing her son and wrote, “just the two of us.”

Many stars took to their social media in order to ask for thoughts and prayers during the search for Rivera. Demi Lovato said on her Instagram story, “Please pray for @nayarivera to be found safe and sound.”

Jackée Harry from The Royal Family which Rivera had multiple appearances on tweeted, “Prayers up for the lovely Naya Rivera.” She added, “We starred alongside one another in her first very television series, The Royal Family, and I’ve watched her career blossom ever since. Please God, don’t cut this life short.”

Rivera starred in Fox’s Glee for six season playing Santana Lopez. In 2014 she married actor Ryan Dorsey and had her son Josey Hollis in 2015. The couple got divorced in 2018.
