'Glee' Announces Plans For 3-D Concert Movie
If you've ever yearned to see the cast of Glee perform on the big screen, brace yourself. FOX studios and creator Ryan Murphy have just announced their intentions to produce a 3-D film that will showcase the backstage antics from the Glee concert tour this summer.
The film will be a kind of companion piece to the actual tour, which can't reach as widespread audiences as the movie. Most of the cast, including Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Sailing, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, and Heather Morris have confirmed they will appear in the film. No word yet on Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison. Kevin Tancharoen of Fame will direct the piece, set to hit theaters for a short two-week release on August 12.
"We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity," Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. "Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, we'll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate 'Gleek' a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles." —KIMBERLY STEELE
