Gisele, 36, retired from modeling in 2015 — ending her career as the world’s highest-earning supermodel.
The former model returned to the runway in front of her homeland at the Rio Olympics opening ceremony — and stunned the crowd in her Alexandre Herchcovitch sequin gown.
The Maracana stadium roared with applause as Gisele cat walked across the long stadium floor, while the classic tune “The Girl From Ipanema,” performed by local artist Daniel Jobim, echoed in the background.

“This is for sure the longest runway I have ever walked in my life and by far with the most amount of people watching, so it is a little nerve-racking I must say,” Gisele told People. “This is a very special moment for my country and I am humbled that they invited me to be a part of such a special celebration.”
“Our Brazilian community is hard working, cheerful, and welcoming,” Gisele wrote in a post on Instagram, following her walk. “I believe that we showed the world the beauty of our diversity. #gratitude #riocidademaravilhosa #rio2016.”
