Gina Rodriguez loaned her 2015 Golden Globes black strapless gown to a high school senior from Buffalo, New York, and the senior wore it to her prom last week.
High school senior Jessica Casanova marveled at Rodriguez’ gown from the Golden Globe Awards held in January. The senior tweeted the actress, “so would love to wear your golden globes dress to prom.”
Rodriguez took the time to tweet Casanova back, but told the senior that she only had the dress from the year before. “Where do you live? I only own my first golden globes dress the one from last year…maybe we can make this happen,” she wrote.
Rodriguez did make it happen and the senior received the black Badgley Mischka gown that the actress wore on the night she won her first Golden Globe.
“Gina’s dress made me feel like a princess and it gave me chills knowing that it was something that came from her heart and I cherish that very much,” Casanova told E! News. “I wish I could give her a big hug and tell her how much I love her. She will always have a special place in my heart.”
Casanova said the Jane the Virgin star even recorded a video for her, wishing her well on her prom night.
“She took the time even with a busy schedule to make sure my day was going great,” Casanova said. “It meant so much.”
