Gigi Hadid To Donate Fashion Show Earnings To Help Ukrainians

Celebrities are utilizing their resources in efforts to help Ukraine after Russia invaded the country late last month.

Mila Kunis has been one of the most outspoken celebrities to rally behind Ukraine, which is also her home country. Kunis, along with her husband Ashton Kutcher started a GoFundMe page with the goal of fundraising $30 million to send to Ukraine.

“Today, I am a proud Ukrainian. While my family came to the United States in 1991, I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983,” Kunis said in a statement. “Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need. This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support.”

The couple has vowed to match up to $3 million to send to Flexport and Airbnb. The two companies will work towards transportation of aid and providing short-term housing for refugees.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid is another celebrity who has pledged to support Ukraine. She announced that she will donate her earnings from her Fall 2021 shows to support Ukraine.

“Having a set Fashion Month schedule has meant that my colleagues and I often present new fashion collections during heartbreaking and traumatic times in history. We don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something,” Hadid captioned a post on Instagram.

“Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war, not leaders,” she added.

Sting brought back his Cold War-era song, “Russians” to support Ukraine with a new performance on Instagram.

Some of the lyrics include lines like, “We share the same biology, regardless of ideology. Believe me, when I say to you, I hope the Russians love their children, too.”

“For the brave Ukrainians fighting against this brutal tyranny, and also the many Russians who are protesting this outrage despite the threat of arrest and imprisonment,” Sting wrote. “We, all of us, love our children. Stop the war.”

He encouraged his followers to help provide aid for Ukrainian refugees.
