Gigi Hadid had just landed in the Cayman Islands when she was arrested at the Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10.

After Hadid and her friend, Leah Nicole McCarthy, arrived at the airport on their private plane, the customs officials discovered “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in their suitcases while scanning their luggage.

The two women were then arrested at the airport by authorities for, “Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja,” the Cayman Marl Road, a local outlet, reported.

They were transported to the Prisoner Detention Center and later released on bail.

On July 12, the women were formally charged in court and fined $1,000 each after pleading not guilty. They will not face any charges against them.

Hadid’s representative asserted in a statement that the marijuana Hadid was traveling with was “purchased legally in NYC with a medical license.” In addition to this, it is legal to use marijuana in Grand Cayman.

Hadid is moving forward from the incident and has not publicly spoken about it. She did post photos on Instagram from her vacation two days after her appearance in court. In the posts, she wore a string bikini and revealed a new dragon tattoo on her thigh, which she captioned, “mornin! 🐉.”

The model additionally posted a blurry underwater picture of a pool noodle wrapped around her torso and jokingly wrote, “What designer makes this noodle? Wrong answers only.”
