During last night’s episode of American Idol, 80s pop star, Brenda K. Starr’s daughter, Gianna Isbella auditioned for a coveted golden ticket to Hollywood.
Starr, best know for her hit “I Still Believe” in 1988 was 100% in full support of her daughter. “Her friends go out and she stays home,” Starr said.
Before her daughter performed, Starr told the back story of how she used to rehearse in the same dance studio that trained Jennifer Lopez before she became a Fly Girl on “In Living Color.” “I knew [Lopez] was going to make it.”
Starr’s daughter also made it through to Hollywood. She wowed judges Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban with “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. After performing, Lopez asked if her mom was in the studio and invited her inside.
After an exchange of hugs between Starr and the judges, Starr was given the golden ticket to give to her daughter.
The next round of auditions is Jan. 20 at 8 PM on Fox.
