Gia Allemand’s Menstruation Drove Her To Suicide, Says Mom Donna Micheletti

Donna Micheletti blames her daughter Gia Allemand’s menstrual cycle for the extreme depression that made her commit suicide less than a month ago.

Micheletii had the unimaginable role of being on the phone with Allemand when she took her own life. She recounted the last moments of the call and offered her thoughts on what was going through her daughter’s mind to Dr. Phil McGraw. Along with the tenuous circumstances in respect to her relationship with NBA player Ryan Anderson, was Allemand’s period. According to Micheletti, her daughter’s menstrual cycle exacerbated her emotional turmoil.

"At that point, with how she felt with her menstrual cycle, she could not see clearly,” Micheletti said on Dr. Phil. “It was like night and day. It would come out of nowhere. All of a sudden, something would click in there and she would say, 'This isn't right. He doesn't love me.'"

During the interview, Micheletti opened up about what it was like to be on the phone with her daughter at the time of her suicide. "Because I’m the closest person in the world to her and she didn’t want to be alone when she left this world,” she told McGraw. “So she wanted Mommy to be there, I guess … It destroys me, but if it made her feel better… Then that’s just fine… I don’t mind dealing with this."

Jake Pavelka, who was the Bachelor star Allemand vied for on season 12 of the ABC dating show, also appeared on the Dr. Phil premiere. Anderson, who had found his unconscious girlfriend at her apartment, declined an invitation to sit down and chat with the celebrity therapist. He reportedly said that he’s still dealing with Allemand’s Aug. 16 death, and can’t yet speak about it publicly.
