Gia Allemand’s funeral was held at Trinity Grace Church in the Chelsea section of Manhattan on Thursday morning where friends and family said their goodbyes. Allemand had made a suicide attempt earlier this month, dying two days later at the age of 29.
Among those present to pay their last respects was Allemand’s boyfriend, New Orleans Pelicans player Ryan Anderson. Anderson entered the church with Allemand’s family and sat in the front row with her mother Donna Micheletti, whose arm he held later while leaving the church, reported People magazine.
During the service, two of Allemand’s closest friends gave speeches that spoke to the late model’s memory. A childhood friend took to the podium and said, “Gia didn't have everything. She gave everything,” adding, "It's hard to imagine someone with so much to give would want to take it all away." Those who gathered to mourn her passing sang “Amazing Grace,” at one point in the service, Allemand’s favorite church hymn.
Allemand died on Aug. 14 when she was taken off life support after she had hanged herself at her New Orleans apartment and was discovered unconscious by Anderson. She had starred on season 14 of The Bachelor, vying for Jake Pavelka's heart, before participating in ABC's Bachelor Pad. She had previoulsy modeled for Maxim.
