Former Jeffrey Epstein girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell and her legal team have filed documents in a last-ditch attempt to appeal to the courts over her substantial bail package.
According to documentation filed in Manhattan District Court by Maxwell’s legal team headed by attorney Mark Cohen, “Ms. Maxwell now proposes the following $28.5 million bail package, which is exceptional in its scope and puts at risk everything that Ms. Maxwell has – all of her and her spouse’s assets, her family’s livelihood, and the financial security of her closest friends and family – if she were to flee, which she has no intention of doing,” with the final wording arguing that she would not be a flight risk.
Cohen appealed for Maxwell to be allowed to have bodyguards. “For her own safety, Ms. Maxwell will also have on-premises security guards 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the attorney requested. “Ms. Maxwell wants to stay in New York and have her day in court so that she can clear her name and return to her family.”
Maxwell faces charges of enticement of minors, sex trafficking of children and perjury, which could all lead to 35 years of imprisonment should she be found guilty.

In a supplemental letter addressed to U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan, it is revealed that Maxwell is married to CEO of CargoMetrics, Scott Borgerson, who wrote: “The person described in the criminal charges is not the person we know. I have never witnessed anything close to inappropriate with Ghislaine,” said the tech executive. “Quite to the contrary, the Ghislaine I know is a wonderful and loving person.”
