German Track & Field Star Alica Schmidt Dubbed ‘World’s Sexist Athlete’ In Olympic Debut

Alica Schmidt, the German track and field star, has arrived at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and thus fulfilled a long-held ambition.

The 25-year-old, who has been dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete” by various publications, has eagerly anticipated this moment for years. A member of the national team that came second in the 4×400 meters relay event at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships, she came third in the same discipline at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships. In 2021, Schmidt traveled to the Tokyo Games but did not compete. However, this setback only fueled her determination to make the most of her opportunity in Paris.

In a series of videos shared on her TikTok account, Schmidt documented her journey to the Olympic Village, where she expressed her excitement at being part of the prestigious event. The athlete, who competed in the mixed 4×400-meter relay on Friday, also took the opportunity to visit the Stade de France, the iconic venue for track and field events.

In early July, she announced she had been selected for the German team at the Paris Olympics, a moment that filled her with immense pride and motivation. She wrote on Instagram at the time, “This thought has been my motivation every single day for several years now, reminding me of why it is important to never give up on my goals and to put in the work.”

As the mixed relay event approaches, Schmidt has taken to social media to reflect on her journey. In a recent Instagram post, she shared a childhood photo of herself wearing a gold medal, expressing her pride in how far she has come.

“Today’s the day,” she wrote, “I’m running the Mixed Relay tonight at 19.22. Little me would be so proud.”

An Instagram user commented: “Little you is so proud.”
