George Zimmerman, Who Killed Trayvon Martin, Sues Pete Buttigieg & Elizabeth Warren For $265 Million

George Zimmerman, who shot and killed Trayvon Martin in 2012, is suing Democratic presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg for $265 million, claiming they defamed him in an attempt to “garner votes in the black community.”

The lawsuit claims that Warren and Buttigieg’s tweets on February 5, which would have been Martin’s 25th birthday, used the killing “as a pretect to demagogue and falsely brand Zimmerman as a white supremacist and racist to their millions of Twitter followers.”

“The defamatory tweets are not an account of two sides of an issue that raises questions in a reader’s mind,” the suit argues. “They are evidence of not only a reckless disregard of the truth but also of common law malice.”

Zimmerman’s attorney and founder of the conservative legal rights group Judicial Watch, Larry Klayman, said in a statement, “The nation should applaud Mr. Zimmerman for taking a strong stand and pushing back against hack politicians like Buttigieg and Warren, who know no bounds of decency and frankly could obviously care less about whom they hurt in their quest to dishonesty use and manipulate black voters to win the 2020 Democrat presidential primary.”

This is not Zimmerman’s first lawsuit filed. Zimmerman had filed a lawsuit in the past seeking $100 million from Martin’s family and others for civil damages, alleging defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy.
