George Zimmerman Taken Into Custody After Allegedly Threatening Wife With Gun

George Zimmerman’s estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman called police to report that the acquitted shooter of Trayvon Martin was threatening her and her parents with a gun on Monday. Zimmerman was later taken into police custody.

Shellie Zimmerman dialed the authorities on Monday afternoon to report her husband’s disturbing actions, reported CBS News. "He's in his car and he continually has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying 'step closer' and he's just threatening all of us," Shellie Zimmerman said in a 911 call. Shellie Zimmerman also alleged that her soon-to-be ex-husband was attempting to “shut the garage door” on her.

“He punched my dad in the nose; my dad has a mark on the nose. I saw his glasses were on the floor," Shellie Zimmerman added. "He then accosted my father then took my iPad out of my hands."

No arrests have been made thus far, as the police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened at the Florida home of Shellie Zimmerman’s parents. Though no specific injuries were documented, police are investigating the matter as a potential domestic battery case.

Shellie Zimmerman confirmed last week that she had filed for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years in a TV interview. "I think I'm realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don't think that I ever really knew him at all," Shellie Zimmerman told ABC News. "I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George."

George Zimmerman was found not guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on July 14. Since then, he’s made the headlines numerous times – twice for getting pulled over for speeding and once for posing for a photo at Florida gun maker Kel-Tec’s factory. Incidentally, Zimmerman had shot Martin with a Kel-Tec 9 mm pistol.
