Comedian George Lopez left a sold-out comedy show early at the Eagle Mountain Casino in Portville, California. On Friday, the comedian departed 30 minutes early due to what he claims was an “unruly” crowd that created an “unsafe environment.”
Eagle Mountain Casino is disputing his claim. On its Facebook page, the casino wrote, “Tonight George Lopez let down his fans and sold-out audience by walking out and ending his show 30 minutes early.” The casino also offers reimbursements for guests who attended the show, giving them a full refund and free tickets to future shows at the venue.
In response to the incident, Lopez’s team told the New York Post, “It’s the venue or casino’s job to provide a good experience for both the artist and the fans, but the casino failed in this regard.”
Lopez spoke exclusively to uInterview in April about his TV show, Lopez V. Lopez. He described how he learned to make light of serious topics.
“I think growing up, a lot of the times that people were losing it with alcohol, it just became funny,” he told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “My grandfather never danced. [When] he would dance, my grandmother knew that was his tell; she’d cut him off [from drinking]. But you know, the sense of humor where you’re teasing somebody, but always there’s a grain of truth, and that’s what always made me laugh. So I find success in my shows when we do that.”
