Former President George H. W. Bush shaved his head in a gesture of support for the two-year-old son of one of his security detail members who's battling leukemia.

The boy, whose name is Patrick, is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for the cancer and has lost most of his hair. When Bush 41 noticed that a number of the men in his Secret Service detail (the Bush Protective Division) had shaved their heads in solidarity with Patrick, he opted to go bald as well.

Bush, along with the Bush Protective Division, has undertaken the task of helping to cover the medical costs facing Patrick’s family. Together, they’ve launched a website (www.patrickspals.org), and have organized a number of benefits to raise money. Bush and his wife Barbara Bush have made a personal donation to the cause through the Patrick's Pals website.

The Bush’s are no stranger to the hardships of childhood leukemia. Their second child, affectionately called Robin, died 60 years ago at the age of four after fighting the disease.
