George Clooney makes an appearance at Downton in the first clip from ITV’s Downton Abbey Christmas charity sketch.
Clooney confirmed he would be participating in the sketch, which is part of ITV’s Text Santa campaign, in September. The short skit will air on December 18 as part of British channel ITV’s Text Santa fundraising event to support Guide Dogs, Teenage Cancer Trust, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer’s Society, Together For Short Lives and WellChild.
In the short teaser, Clooney’s character has a mysterious interaction with Cora, but Laura Carmichael, who stars as Lady Edith, revealed that the sketch actually featured a funny interaction between Clooney and Maggie Smith, who stars as the Dowager Countess.
“There is a very brilliant moment with Maggie and George…George plants a kiss and Maggie ends up on the floor. It’s wonderful. He was hilarious,” Carmichael revealed.
The special Downton Abbey sketch is set to air on Dec. 18.
