George Bush's Head Removed From 'Game Of Thrones' Spike

Game of Thrones, despite its popularity among nerds and anti-nerds alike, became decidedly less popular when creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss admitted that one of the decapitated heads on a spike in a season one episode was in the likeness of former President of the United States George W. Bush.

Benioff and Weiss clarified this fact in their DVD commentary to season one of Game of Thrones, which stars Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke and Michelle Fairley. "We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc.," the duo explained after HBO denounced their actions as "careless."

"We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk," Weiss and Benioff explained. "After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush."

Now HBO has made the creators go back and edit in a new head in the place of Bush's on the DVD, so unless you scored one of the soon-to-be priceless copies of the original season one of Game of Thrones or held on to your dead-Ned-Stark-being-ruthlessly-displayed-to-daughter-Sansa TiVo, you're out of luck on seeing the Bush head.

HBO further denounced the use of Bush's head, however inadvertent, as "unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste."
