George and Amal Clooney were unsurprisingly on the red carpet for the Clooney Foundation’s inaugural Albie Awards at the New York Public Library.
The aim of this award ceremony is to spotlight influential lawyers and activists who have worked to preserve justice in America. In this photo, they’re joined by model Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber.
Amal Clooney is a lawyer with particular focuses on human rights law and international law, and is the co-President of the Clooney foundation with George. Clooney himself is known for being more politically active than your average Hollywood celebrity as well, working with several humanitarian organizations and being named a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2008.
The namesake of this award ceremony, Albie Sachs, is a lawyer and former judge from South Africa who was very active in fighting against and eventually dismantling apartheid.
