Jacklyn Zeman, best known for playing nurse Bobbie Spencer on the television series General Hospital, died Tuesday after a battle with cancer. She was 70.
Frank Valentini, the show’s executive producer, announced her death on Twitter on Wednesday.
Zeman joined the cast of General Hospital in 1977 and appeared in more than 800 episodes. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy four times for her role.

General Hospital also posted a statement to Twitter, saying Zeman had been a member of the family for over 45 years.
Her costar General Hospital John Stamos also took to social media to pay tribute. “Her warm personality and infectious energy always brightened my day,” he wrote. “Jackie will forever hold a special place in my heart, and her memory will continue to inspire me. XO”
Zeman was born and raised in New Jersey. She studied dance at New York University before becoming famous for playing Lana McClain on the hit soap opera One Life to Live. A year later, she landed her role as Bobbie on General Hospital.
Before her break into the soap opera scene, Zeman acted in commercials and as a Playboy bunny. Speaking in an interview on The Locher Room, she said that working with Playboy taught her how to do interviews and be on TV.
Zeman’s other acting credits include Chicago Hope, Misguided and her Emmy-nominated role as Sofia Madison on The Bay.
