Gayle King Says Prince Harry Has Had ‘Unproductive Conversations’ With Charles & William Since Oprah Interview
Gayle King said on CBS This Morning that Prince Harry has spoke with his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William since his and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired.
King, who is friends with Prince Harry, Markle and Oprah, said she called the couple to see how they were doing. She said Harry’s conversations with his family were not productive, but they were glad to have started a conversation. She added that no one from the Royal family has spoken with Markle yet.
“I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still,” said King. “I think it’s frustrating for them to see that it’s a racial conversation about the royal family when all they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant,” King continued.
She said both parties want to move forward and both want healing in the family.
“And until you can acknowledge that, I think it’s going to be hard to move forward,” she said. “At the end of the day, that is Harry’s family.”
King also mentioned recent bullying accusations against Markle.
“The bullying thing was raised, you know, in 2018 and now there’s an ongoing investigation about bullying for Meghan Markle when anyone who has worked with her will tell you exactly who she is,” Gayle continued. “You know, she’s really a very sweet, caring person. And as I say, Meghan has documents to back up everything she said on Oprah’s interview.”
When Markle and Prince Harry’s interview aired on March 7, they revealed that a member of the Royal Family questioned how dark their son Archie’s skin would be when he was born. Prince Harry also revealed that his father did not take his calls for a period of time after he stepped back as a senior royal.
Since then, Prince William has spoken out saying that the Royal family is not racist. Prince Charles has not made a public statement yet.
