‘Game of Thrones’ Mastermind George RR Martin Reveals New TV Series ‘Wild Card’

With the final season of Game of Thrones announced, fans of the highly successful HBO series and books are going to soon be left scrambling for a show to fill the void. Luckily, the creator of Game of Thrones George RR Martin, is already announcing yet another collection of his writing for television.

George RR Martin Confirms ‘Wild Card’ Adaptation for TV

The comic book series and novels, Wild Card, which takes place in the post World War II era of the United States and features superheroes and villains contracting powers through exposure to an alien virus, has been under the auspices of Martin since 1987. As his development deal is exclusive to HBO and the rights for this series have been bought by Universal Cable Productions (UCP), Martin won’t be directly involved in the project. However, UCP is home to acclaimed series like Mr. Robot, which could be a good sign for the future of Martin’s superhero anthology.

Of which parts of Wild Card  will be adapted, Martin isn’t sure. He recently told Complex that, “Only one thing I can say for (almost) sure. You will be seeing [character] Croyd Crenson, no matter shape the eventual show or shows ends up taking. It wouldn’t be Wild Cards without the Sleeper.”

Martin has confidence in the production team, although also is fully aware the project may never make it out of development.
