'Game of Thrones' Spoilers: Season 3 Premiere ‘Valar Dohaeris’ – Expect A Red Wedding

Game of Thrones’ season premiere is right around the corner, and more details for the third season and March 31 kickoff are being revealed.

The premiere, entitled “Valar Dohaeris” (which means "all men must serve") will see Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) brought before King Beyond the Wall Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds), as the Night’s Watch survivors head south. "In King’s Landing, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) asks for his reward,” according to an HBO press release. "Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen) offers Sansa (Sophie Turner) a way out. Cersei (Lena Headey) hosts a dinner for the royal family. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) sails into Slaver’s Bay.”

Although the synopsis might seem vague or even cryptic, for Game of Thrones, it’s uncharacteristically detailed. Naming over a handful of characters, along with an idea of what they’ll be up to is welcome detail for Thrones fans. As for the rest of the season, the plot is completely up in the air. And the series creators have good reason to want to keep the bulk of what’s to come under wraps.

“Emotionally, this season really goes for the jugular,” Thrones executive story editor Bryan Cogman told Entertainment Weekly. “In some cases, quite literally.”

“Like the book, it builds. Once the season kicks into gear, we’ve already seen stuff that makes me think it will be the best one yet. And it ought to be,” showrunner David Benioff said. “I’ve never seen the crew so emotional. If the scene has that effect on the people making it who know what’s coming, if they’re that overpowered, I think it’s going to have an overwhelming effect on people watching it.”

The writer of the book series that Games of Thrones is based on revealed even more spoilers for Game of Thrones season three in an interview with Onmivoracious.com. When asked about what he’s most excited to see translated onto the small screen, George R. R. Martin mentioned the Red Wedding. He didn’t give any more details, although it is expected to be a gory affair.

Season 3 of Game of Thrones premieres on Sunday, March 31 on HBO at 8/9c.
