Rapper The Game has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged confrontation with an off-duty Los Angeles police officer.
The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, was charged with one felony count of making criminal threats and one count of misdemeanor assault and battery, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
Prosecutors claim that The Game punched the off-duty officer during a basketball game at Hollywood High School on March 29. The alleged altercation apparently occurred after The Game was called for a foul.
On Monday, The Game pleaded not guilty in a downtown LA court room. If convicted on all charges, the rapper could face up to three years in prison.
The Game’s other recent legal troubles include a defamation case involving a former employee of his, nanny Karen Moore. Moore claimed that he defamed her charactrer and inflicted emotional distress after posting Instagram and Twitter posts that hurt her professional reputation. A judge ordered The Game to pay her more than $200,000.
