Gal Gadot Talks About Playing Wonder Woman, Her Daughter’s Adorable Reaction

Gal Gadot landed the dream role of Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and couldn’t be prouder to be a strong role model for young women, particularly for her 4-year-old daughter.

“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” Gadot told Ellen DeGeneres Tuesday, revealing her utter joy at learning that Zack Snyder had cast her in the DC Films flick.

Gadot went on to share that her daughter Alma has a love for princess stories, and thought that she might actually be one herself.

“She understands,” Gadot said of her daughter’s awareness of her role as Wonder Woman, adding, “I’m not sure how much of it she gets. She said, ‘Mommy, if you wear a tiara does that mean you’re a queen and I’m a princess?’ And then I said, ‘I’m playing dress-up, Alma. This is dress-up.”

And though Alma is a fan of princesses, she is more than aware that they’re often given far less interesting character arcs than their male counterparts.

“One time I was telling her a story and then she said, ‘The princes are always so brave and courageous and strong,'” said Gadot. “Then I ask her about the princesses and she goes, “Ehhh.’ And I ask her, ‘Why do you say that?’ And she’s like, ‘They always fall asleep, and then the prince is the one to wake them up, and they do nothing.'”

Gadot added, “And that made me feel so good about playing Wonder Woman.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25. Gadot will reprise the role of Wonder Woman in a spinoff slated for a 2017 release, in The Justice League Part One (2017) and Justice League Part Two (2019).
