Gabrielle Reece, the professional volleyball player, will host NBC’s upcoming reality fitness series Strong.
Reece, who has hosted Fit TV’s series Insider Training in the past, was announced as the host of Strong earlier this week. Sylvester Stallone and The Biggest Loser creator Dave Broome are behind the series.
Strong will set up 10 selected women with a group of fitness trainers, who will help them take on a series of tough physical and mental tests. The contestants will be shown building their endurance with the help of their professional fitness partners over the course of 10 episodes.
Similar to how reality dancing show Dancing with the Stars works, each woman will be paired up with her own pro partner. At the end of each week’s episode, one team will be eliminated following a series of tough challenges.
“I couldn’t be more proud and thrilled to partner up with NBC on Strong,” said Reece, according to Variety. “The opportunity to share the concept of people wanting to and working toward tapping into their greatness is a dream. My hope is that we can use the show to inspire and motivate others.”
Prior to landing the hosting gig on Strong, in addition to being a pro volleyball player and hosting Insider Training, Reece has penned articles for a number of outlets, including Yahoo Health, The Huffington Post and the Los Angeles Times. She also created the high-intensity group fitness program called HIGHX Training.
