Fundraiser For Alleged Gunman In Kansas City Super Bowl Parade Mass Shooting Removed After Collection Just $100

A crowdfunding campaign set up to assist Lyndell Mays, one of the suspected shooters involved in the tragic incident at the Kansas City Super Bowl parade, has been taken down after it collected a mere $100 in contributions.

Mays, a 23-year-old resident of Raytown, Missouri, was charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and other offenses after he shot and killed a woman and injured over 20 individuals. Dominic Miller, another individual charged in connection with the incident, was also wounded in the chaotic event and is currently hospitalized. The initiative on GoFundMe, created by Mays’ mother, Teneal Burnside, aimed to gather financial support for Mays’ medical expenses, as stated in her message.

The family established the fundraising campaign prior to the filing of charges against Mays but concerns over potential repercussions led them to remove the campaign.

According to Missouri prosecutors, Mays and Miller were strangers who engaged in gunfire at the parade in the wake of an argument. Police affidavits indicate that the confrontation began when both groups believed that members of the opposing group were staring at them.

Amid the crowd, Mays allegedly initiated the shooting. Mays claimed he started to fire in response to a perceived threat on his life, as a member of the other group allegedly uttered the words, “I’m going to get you.”

Miller, on the other hand, initially stated to law enforcement that he and his friends fled the scene when the shooting commenced. However, he later admitted he had fired four or five rounds when he learned the police possessed video evidence where he pursued a member of Mays’ group and discharged his firearm.

Authorities have attributed the fatal shot that claimed the life of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old mother and radio DJ, to a bullet fired from Miller’s gun.

In connection with the parade shooting, two minors were also apprehended last week on charges related to firearms possession and resisting arrest. Authorities anticipate filing additional charges as the investigation progresses.
