Frisco Man Could Be Texas's Second Ebola Case

A man in Frisco, Tex., who reportedly had contact with the recently deceased Ebola victim, Thomas Eric Duncan, has been hospitalized.

Second Ebola Case In Texas

The unidentified man, who was showing “signs and symptoms of Ebola,” was transferred from a CareNow facility in Frisco to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. It is believed that the man is a deputy who had gone with county officials to visit the apartment Duncan was staying in during his Dallas stay.

"We are being very cautious and are in contact with the health department to ensure we follow proper protocol," said CareNow spokeswoman Vicki Johns, according to ABC affiliate WFAA8. "Our concern is for the safety and well being of everyone in our clinic."

Dana Baird-Hanks, a spokeswoman with the city of Frisco, said in a statement, "The patient claims to have had contact with the Dallas 'patient zero.”

The unnamed patient was not one of the 48 people that federal, state and local health officials were monitoring, according to CBS.

The potential Ebola victim arrived at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas this afternoon and is currently being evaluated. “Right now, there are more questions than answers about this case,” the hospital said in a statement. “Our professional staff of nurses and doctors is prepared to examine the patient, discuss any findings with appropriate agencies and officials. We are on alert with precautions and systems in place.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Texas Health Presbyterian announced that Duncan, who had been battling Ebola at the Dallas hospital for days, had died from the virus.
